Job Summary

The Process Improvement Specialist (Temp) will help build and drive continuous improvement methodologies and culture across the Drug Product Business unit and associated manufacturing/packaging sites. Scope includes providing day to day problem solving support, training people and leading various improvement initiatives. Role will support Operational Excellence at 50% and Warehouse & Supply Chain improvement initiatives at 50%.



On-Site Expectations

    100% on-site position.
  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.


Responsibilities

  • Assists in build and launch of key lean OE systems such as problem solving, visual management, and trainings.
  • Ensures improvements are standardized via use of visual management, standard work procedures, and process confirmations.
  • Lead various Warehouse and Supply Chain improvement initiatives such as 5S deployments, Raw material planning, Inventory Management etc.
  • Assists in building and conducting lean operational excellence trainings such as Systematic Problem solving, Value Stream Mapping, After Action Reviews, 5S etc.
  • Conduct 5S events across RTP site to reduce waste, create an optimized work environment and enhance productivity.
  • Provides data analysis expertise to understand root causes and help solve problems.
  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement projects/problem solving across departments and sites.
  • Help in establishing visual management systems such as baseline and target metrics for key processes to drive cost effective improvements, Tiers etc.
  • Provides support for initial and ongoing Lean events (Kaizens, Value Stream Mapping, and Lean training) to ensure consistency and proper application of Lean OE tools & processes.
  • Provide day to day support on helping and coaching others.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other related field of study.
  • 2+ years of Lean/Operational Excellence experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred with at least 2-3 years of Lean Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence working experience.
  • Prior experience with Material Planning and Inventory Management preferred.
  • Special area experience preferred including CDMO, cGMP, Pharma, or Biotech.
  • Ability to act as a SME & coach for lean Operational excellence.
  • Working knowledge of lean six sigma methodologies and principles.
  • Ability to build training curriculum and teach classes.
  • Strong data analytical and critical thinking skills. Able to collaborate cross functionally.
  • Ability to identify gaps in processes and help in streamlining processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiencies.
  • Ability to create visual management systems such as tiers, trainings and presentations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills required.
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to be able to multi-task and work in fast paced environments.
  • Proficient in electronic/digital systems such as SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and Smartsheets.


Travel Expectations

  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment for specific job duties to be performed. Such personal protective equipment may include, but not limited to safety eyewear, various types of respirators/breathing apparatus, lab coats, full protective body coverings, various types of gloves, etc.
