How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Package Assembly Production Coordinator, you will play a critical role in the successful execution of our cooling tower production operations. Under direct supervision, you will coordinate the planning, scheduling, and monitoring of materials and production activities by collaborating closely with purchasing, engineering, and production teams.

Your responsibilities will include interpreting blueprints, identifying part codes, calculating material quantities, and compiling detailed material requirements, including contract numbers and special handling instructions. This information will be used to support purchasing and production planning for timely and accurate order fulfillment.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will include:

  1. Production Planning & Coordination
  • Review and provide updated to the production schedule using SAP
  • Generate and analyze shortage report to identify missing purchased parts
  • Perform daily audits to verify part availability for production
  • Communicate part shortages to Materials and Purchasing to ensure timely resolution
  • Develop and maintain weekly assembly schedules for M-Line, NC Line, and Aqua production areas - communicate shift-by-shift schedules
  1. Inventory and System Management
  • Identify and correct inventory discrepancies in SAP to reflect accurate part availability
  • Enter, validate, and reconcile production data within SAP
  • Analyze and resolve errors in production usage transactions and quantity reporting to support manufacturing accuracy and efficiency
  1. Production Support and Communication
  • Collaborate with Supervisors and Team Leads to determine optimal production run order
  • Work with Stores personnel to sequence carts for efficient line-side delivery
  • Coordinate the resolution of pack-in shortages and supplemental materials
  • Maintain and regularly update the Tower Rework List and Schedule to provide real-time visibility of production status
  • Partner with Supervisors and Team Leads to manage tower rework activities effectively
  • Proactively communicate production or material issues that couls impact shipment dates, ensuring Project Managers have accurate, up-to-date information for customer communication
  1. Safety:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
  • Support the company's safety culture by modelling safe behaviors and encouraging others to do the same
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency in production scheduling and coordination
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and kaizen events when required

Key Performance Metrics

  • On Time Completion - percentage of assemblies completed by the scheduled build finish date
  • Assembly Downtime - amount of unplanned downtime impacting production flow
  • Schedule Accuracy - alignment of actual production to the planned shift-by-shift and weekly schedules
  • Inventory Accuracy - accuracy of part counts and usage recorded versus physical inventory
  • Attendance - adherence to work schedule and reliability in role coverage
  • Task Execution - completion of assigned performance tasks and proactive support of production operations

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience in manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience working with production scheduling, planning, control or expediting
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP (or similar ERP systems)
  • Understanding of inventory management principles and techniques
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Highly organized with strong initiative; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), highly preferred

Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's Degree, preferred

Travel & Working Environment

  • Onsite - position based onsite at our manufacturing facility
  • Exposure to shop floor conditions including heat, noise, and inclement weather
  • Requires occasional bending and stooping, and extended periods of standing or walking
  • Must be able to read from a computer screen and paper documents
