MANAGER, MATERIAL PLANNING (STARLINK SUPPLY CHAIN)

At SpaceX we're leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world's largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 5M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system - thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together.

The Starlink Supply Chain Department is a critical player in our operations to expand Starlink to hundreds of millions of users around the globe. To capitalize on our technical and market success, our team will execute large-scale projects that will define the bottom line for the company, and unlock unprecedented rates of Satellite hardware development out of our Redmond, WA headquarters. Our Material Planning Manager will oversee a team and work alongside a group of individuals focused on, but not limited to: material demand planning, scheduling, new product introduction, and inventory control across all commodities that comprise our satellite and ground station production. Success in this role is critical to ensure Starlink remains a dynamic global leader in internet and satellite technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Work cross-functionally within supply chain, engineering, and production management to understand all inventory health risks, critical path part status, and risk mitigation opportunities
  • Effectively manage and control the complex and dynamic Bills of Material (BOMs) that characterize our satellites and ground stations
  • Monitor and correct demand signals in our Material Resource Planning (MRP) system
  • Manage new product introduction (NPI) and production line cutover activities to ensure continuity of supply
  • Institute and champion effective change management processes across production, engineering, and supply chain
  • Ensure MRP signal accuracy across all of Starlink Satellite and Gateway production
  • Mitigate carried inventory and obsolescence while ensuring continuity of material supply
  • Proactively identify and implement process, system, or training improvement projects
  • Embody extreme ownership for all material planning outcomes and responsibilities


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Advanced degree and 4+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:





    • Purchasing
    • Contract negotiation
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Material cost control
    • Master production scheduling





  • Experience with MRP and ERP systems, and with managing bills of material (BOMs), work orders, and inventory control methodologies


  • Experience leading teams in a supply chain and/or production environment



PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Experience managing electrical, electro-mechanical, or mechanical components supply chain
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. Data-driven approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) and build trust with engineering, procurement, and production teams
  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Knowledge of mechanical component manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Experience implementing simple and effective team and organizational processes
  • Demonstrated history of challenging the status quo when necessary and delivering results
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs
  • Experience interfacing with senior leadership and refining communication approach accordingly
  • Experience building, training, and motivating a team
  • Conducts all activities with the highest of integrity


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to travel for short and extended trips as needed
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Manager, Material Planning: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
