This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

First Citizens Commercial Real Estate originates and underwrites senior secured real estate transactions. With deep market expertise, underwriting experience and industry relationships, the unit provides financing for single properties, property portfolios and loan portfolios.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee timely completion of portfolio hygiene tasks through follow up with assigned portfolio managers and escalation to business unit senior management including:timely completion or extension of annual reviews
    • Renewal of credit risk ratings
    • Monitoring of payment past dues with portfolio managers / operations
    • Monitoring of upcoming loan maturities with assigned portfolio managers
    • Follow up on sign off of ticklers for financial reporting with assigned portfolio managers
  • Lead the maintenance and enhancement of internal reporting used in day-to-day business unit management.
  • Provide working direction to the internal CRE Data Analyst and review his work prior to it being provided to business unit management and parties outside the business unit
  • Take responsibility for all business unit reporting to parties outside the business unit such as SNC reporting, Capital Allocation reporting, HMDA reporting, etc.
  • Oversee all aspects of the CRE Delinquency Monitored Portfolio including annual regrading, research on loan, property tax and insurance delinquencies.
  • Assist with interaction of the CRE offshore operations within First Citizens India
  • Assist with response to internal and external audit inquiry and manage Management Action Plan response to audit findings for senior management.
  • Participate in the transition process of closed loans from underwriting to portfolio management. Review credit files for completeness.
  • Assist with integration of CRE loans from previous bank mergers.
  • Schedule CRE education sessions and maintain CRE inventory of education materials
  • Participate in process improvement projects involving CRE including introduction of new software tools.
  • Lead and / or participate in ad hoc projects as necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of banking experience focused on portfolio management operations OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience of banking experience focused on portfolio management operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of banking experience
  • Knowledge of Commercial Real Estate Lending
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, think critically, exercise sound judgement, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and successfully manage time.
  • Familiarity with banking systems such as Salesforce, nCino, Moody's Credit Lens
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting
  • Audit background

For New York, the base pay for this position is generally between $185,000-$200,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
