Love numbers and making a real impact? Join our team as a key player in the City's Financial Services Division! You'll take on advanced accounting tasks-from analyzing complex data and reconciling ledgers to supporting audits and preparing financial reports.

With your expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines, and government accounting standards, you'll work across departments, contribute to big projects, and help keep the City's finances on point. It's meaningful work with a mix of challenges, collaboration, and growth.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Maintain and reconcile the City's general ledger, bank accounts, and financial records.
  • Support year-end audit prep and help create the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
  • Research and apply Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) updates.
  • Review and approve accounting transactions; prepare journal entries and daily reports.
  • Monitor accounting systems for compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Resolve bank discrepancies and process wire transfers as needed.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports for audits, grants, and debt compliance.
  • Collaborate on special projects, system updates, and new software rollouts.
  • Develop financial spreadsheets and assist with training staff.
  • Provide accounting support and guidance to departments across the City.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.


Experience:



  • Minimum of three years' related experience.
  • Requires a working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures.


Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:



  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.
  • Certified Public Accountant.
