Advise student-athletes on eligibility and general education course requirements and help track student-athlete progression through matriculation. Assist students in selecting a major and coordinating with the academic advisors associated within the student-athlete's college. This position will also focus on supporting at risk student athletes. This position will be supervised by the Director of First Year Advisement and will interface closely with the NCAA Eligibility Coordinator within Advisement and the Athletics Office. Responsibilities

- Advise student-athletes on NCAA eligibility and general education course requirements.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student-athlete academic performance and advising interactions using internal systems and NCAA reporting tools.
- Be the initial point of contact for new student athletes, families, and coaches.
- Meet regularly with the Associate Athletic Director of Academic Services and Student-Athlete Welfare to monitor academic success plans for at-risk students.
- Supplies information for NCAA reports and audits related to academic progress, APR (Academic Progress Rate), and GSR (Graduation Success Rate).
- Monitor and evaluate academic performance, NCAA continuing eligibility, and progress-toward-degree benchmarks for assigned student-athletes.
- Maintain regular office hours and attend athletic and advisement meetings.
- Represent advisement in Utah Tech promotional and freshman events, including freshman orientation and presentations in local high schools.
- Refer students to other agencies for assistance, such as Financial Aid, Disability Resource Center, TRiO Program, Health & Wellness Center, Community Outreach programs, etc.
- Participate in retention initiatives under direction of Academic Advisement.
- Attend professional development opportunities for advisement and athletics.
- Assist with the commencement and convocation programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
-
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Two years of advising or related experience required; higher education advisement experience at an NCAA institution preferred.
- Proficient computer skills; willingness to learn new systems.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with university stakeholders.
- Familiarity with college admissions guidelines, standards, and procedures, and higher education admissions counseling in general.
- Familiarity with UT general education program requirements preferred.
- Background must show ability to positively relate to multi-cultural students, first generation students, non-traditional students, and students in transition.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $44,500 for Bachelor's degree-qualified candidate and $47,750 for Master's degree-qualified candidates. Desired start date of June/July 2025.
