Position Title: Methods Planner

Location of Position: United States -- Wisconsin -- Sturgeon Bay

Business Group: Planning, Scheduling, & Production Control

Position Type: Full-Time; Exempt

Reports To: Planning Manager

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the efficient operation of FBS through system and process development, definition, and coordination at our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. The successful candidate will support the 1,000+ working men and women on our waterfront by supporting the core business functions of strategic integration, continuous improvement, production engineering and design, production planning and manufacturing.

Detailed Description:

* Development of shipyard strategic plans to ensure the achievement of business objectives.

* Support the development and maintenance of key dates and milestones for each project.

* Development of integrated business operating plans and schedules.

* Study and implementation of Capex investment (with ROI analysis).

* Develop of IMS activity and WBS structure in coordination with the PP&C Department.

* Development of facility investment plans in coordination with the Facilities Department.

* Identify, evaluate, develop, and report on Lean Manufacturing, Process Improvement, and SS initiatives.

* Definition of project specific Build Strategy for Structure and Outfitting, Shipbuilding Units and Zones, and Standard Production Cycle Plan.

* Support and coordinate implementation of the Build Strategies, Product Oriented Drawings, and Palletization with the Engineering Department.

* Identify and conduct research and development of processes and technology for improved production.

* Define the Workstation Yard Map and Workstation Plan, and perform a significant re-plan if needed.

* Identify, elicit, evaluate, develop and manage ManTech and NSRP projects.

* Identify, evaluate, and develop "Micro-Methods" of production to improve efficiency.

* Identify and implement an efficient manufacturing processes and technology through industrial engineering.

* Develop plans for manufacturing support activities (ship ventilation plans, module move and transport, barges, platforms, etc.)

* Design of Jigs and fixtures for construction and unit transport.

* Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

* Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.

* Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety Policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Naval Architecture

* At least 5 years of related work experience in the field of production engineering or (preferably) shipbuilding and/or ship design

* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word

* Must have strong organizational and time management skills

* Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor

* Must have ability to maintain confidentiality

Desired Qualifications:

* Experience with AutoCAD systems
