Position:Lab Tech III Dept: Environmental Health & Safety

Location:Cincinnati, Ohio Reports to: Production Manager

Position Description:

The Technician is responsible for the operations, monitoring, and maintenance of the wastewater treatment system. The role ensures compliance with environmental regulations by effectively treating process wastewater generated during pigment manufacturing. The technician performs routine testing, records data and makes necessary process adjustments to maintain optimal system performance and environmental safety.

Position Requirements:



  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment, including clarifiers, filters, chemical feed system and waste stream solids
  • Monitor process parameters (ex. pH, flow rates, chemical dosing) and adjust while maintaining optimal treatment performance and compliance
  • Perform daily inspection/sampling and testing of wastewater to ensure compliance with local, state and federal discharge permits
  • Maintain detailed logs of system operations, maintenance activities and analytical data
  • Manage chemical inventory and ensure safe handling and storage of treatment chemicals
  • Troubleshoot system issues and perform minor repairs and coordinate with maintenance for more complex work
  • Collaborate with production and EHS teams to manage waste streams and support pollution prevention initiatives
  • Assists in the development and revisions of standard operating procedures (SOP's) for wastewater operations
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, safety policies and company protocols

Required/Preferred Education and Experience:



  • High School diploma or GED Required
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal environmental regulations related to wastewater discharge.
  • Basic computer literacy and understanding of process automation.
  • Associate degree or technical training in environmental science, chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in industrial or chemical wastewater treatment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with pigment or chemical manufacturing process is a plus.


Work Experience:



  • 2-4 years of experience in industrial or municipal wastewater treatment operations
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (EPA, local environmental, OEPA) and reporting standards related to wastewater discharge.
  • Understanding and interpretation of data (pH,TSS,COD,BOD suspended solids...)
  • Analytical skills to interpret wastewater results.
