Position Overview: The Microsoft 365 Administrator will manage, configure, and optimize our Microsoft 365 environment. This includes administration of Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Intune, Power Platform, and related security and compliance features. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technologist with strong troubleshooting skills, a deep understanding of Microsoft 365 governance, and the ability to collaborate across IT, security, and business teams to ensure a secure and productive digital workspace.
Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, Intune, OneDrive, Power Platform, and related integrations.
- Manage Microsoft 365 configurations, licensing, and governance structures to align with best practices and business needs.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks and system configurations.
- Partner with security to enforce Conditional Access, MFA, DLP, Information Protection, and other compliance and security controls.
- Identify and remediate security misconfigurations and vulnerabilities within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Lead or support Microsoft 365 tenant migrations, consolidations, and integrations, including Entra SSO and third-party SaaS identity connections.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalating and collaborating with Tier 1/2 support when necessary.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
- Support internal users in developing self-service solutions using Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., Power Automate, Power Apps) following governance standards.
- Monitor system health and performance of Microsoft 365 services; proactively respond to service disruptions.
- Maintain documentation for procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in change management and operational readiness processes for new features and updates.
- Review ticket queues and ensure resolution in accordance with SLAs and support policies.
- Stay current on new Microsoft 365 features, roadmap changes, and industry trends.
- Support integrations with Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, or third-party security monitoring platforms to enhance threat visibility.
- Govern and support usage of Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI across the organization while ensuring data security and policy compliance.
- Deliver user training sessions, create knowledge base content, and promote adoption of Microsoft 365 features to improve user productivity.
- Utilize governance and migration tools (e.g., AvePoint, ShareGate) to manage permissions, lifecycle policies, and data migrations.
- Support Power BI service administration, including workspace management, licensing, and user access control in coordination with data owners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
- or an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 services in a business environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID, Intune, and Power Platform.
- Proven experience with Microsoft 365 tenant migrations and cross-platform integrations.
- Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration management.
- Solid grasp of identity and access management, including SSO, SAML, conditional access, and application registration.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues across integrated M365 components.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred Requirements:
- Microsoft certifications such as MS-100, MS-101, or Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or other public cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with AvePoint, ShareGate, or similar governance and migration tools.
- Experience integrating M365 with security platforms (e.g., Defender for Office 365, SIEM, or MDR tools).
- Experience with Plumsail Forms or other custom form/workflow platforms.
- Experience supporting hybrid identity or hybrid Exchange environments.
- Experience managing role-based access and conditional access policies in Entra ID.
Work Environment:
- Full-time, on-site position based at our corporate headquarters in Somerset, PA.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- On-call availability may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Mobile phone available to support business and on-call responsibilities.
