This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Rady Children's Hospital and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Department of Surgery is one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine and is comprised of 102 full time faculty members, 220 voluntary faculty members, 20 physicians employed on MSP agreements, 25 doctors employed by the VA or other facilities, 77 accredited and 13 non-accredited trainees and 100 career staff. Activities are organized in 13 sub-specialty divisions. Annual expenditures across the Department total over $66.5M with a global research portfolio of over $19M. The missions of research, education and patientcare are intertwined, and are integral to the goals of the department.

Under supervision, the Research Study Analyst will provide support to the Plastic Surgery Division. The incumbent will conducting research on the impact trauma, surgery and living with visible scars and deformities have on quality of life of children. The research collected is intended to help develop individualized intervention. The incumbent will be responsible for a diverse range of research, administrative, operational, coordination services.

Duties include (but not limited to): Recruiting research subjects; screening for subject eligibility; coordinating subject appointments with facilities and staff; and data collection. Data collection includes administering diagnostic interviews, questionnaires, and acquisition of comprehensive treatment. Duties also include maintenance of accurate and complete clinical research files; maintenance of study databases in Excel, access and locally-developed software programs; ensuring compliance with study protocol.

Also, will provide general support for the Plastic Surgery Division's research. Such as: organizing and tracking action items; helping with data collection; creating spreadsheets for various program assessments and planning; tracking outcomes data for clinical programs; and contributing to research related business plans for treatment programs and compensation for faculty and staff.

Under direct guidance of senior researcher, applies acquired skills and knowledge of applicable research discipline to support field research projects of small to medium size and intermediate scope and complexity, including but not limited to research in environmental, public health, social or biological science disciplines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

  • Working knowledge of safety, legal, cultural and regulatory requirements relative to field research responsibility.

  • Working knowledge of research discipline, principles, concepts, analysis and / or operations being conducted at field / remote sites. Experience performing research duties in a research environment. Experience following a research protocol to carry out study procedures and collect data.

  • Working knowledge of local customs and operations at field / remote sites.

  • Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with remote research partners. Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communications skills to communicate clearly, effectively, tactfully, sensitively, and patiently in person, on the phone, and in writing to a diverse population; including participants, faculty, and staff.

  • Demonstrates ability to work with a team, and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Proven ability to work with minimal direction and work collaboratively with the research team and investigators.

  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, to follow through with superior attention to detail, and to complete tasks in a timely manner by a specified deadline.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to work in a changing, multiple-demand setting to prioritize a large volume of work and meet deadlines efficiently and accurately.

  • Demonstrates ability to work in ambiguous conditions.

  • Proficient research and analytical skills. Proficiency in using database software including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to work with research team including preparing and responding to data queries.

  • Demonstrated communication skills with project team members. Excellent writing, editing, spelling, and proofreading skills including knowledge of proper formats, grammar, structure, and content.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $28.07 - $48.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
