JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

PART-TIME MENTAL HEALTH CASE MANAGER

The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park has an opening for a part-time Mental Health Case Manager available beginning August 8, 2025. Hours worked are 16 hours per week during the academic year only.

Responsibilities include:

• Facilitate the development of an effective care plan for students/other clients.
• Provide case management appointments to facilitate client connection to ongoing mental health services.
• Responsible for calling insurance companies, performing online searches for services, communicating electronically with students regarding coverage and provider options.
• Advocate for client access to mental health care and other needed services and resources; explain services available to clients.
• Provide referrals/support coordination of other community or university resources as needed.
• Manage record requests as needed.
• Assist students in obtaining prior records from medical or psychological treatment.

Preference is given to candidates who have prior experience providing case management services, as well as experience working with diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexual and/or gender diverse students.

A minimum of a master's degree in social work or a related discipline is required. Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor, or Psychologist is required. Current licensure as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist is preferred.

State College, PA, a university town, with a population of 105,000 (which includes the State College borough and surrounding townships) was recently cited as one of the top university towns in the United States. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are 3 to 4 hours from State College and Baltimore is about 3 hours. State College and the university provide the major intellectual, cultural, and recreational resources for central Pennsylvania.
