About the Job

The Microbiota Therapeutics Program is seeking a highly motivated researcher for an
entry position in manufacturing of microbial products for clinical trials in a variety of
disease applications, including disorders of gut-brain axis, inflammatory bowel diseases,
cancer, and others. A large part of the effort will be spent in our Good Manufacturing
Practices facility, which operates in accordance with the pharmaceutical standards. This
work requires an individual who can maintain focus, follow laboratory protocols, and
maintain careful documentation throughout the manufacturing steps. Additional
opportunities to assist with investigative work in microbiology, gut microbiome, microbe-
host interactions will become available depending on interest and program need.
Various diverse opportunities may also be available in the clinical research arm of our
program.

Duties and responsibilities

50%
Carry out laboratory procedures in the manufacturing suite:
Purify microbial communities from human stool.
Quantify bacteria using microscopy.
Prepare reagents.

30%
Manage documentation:
Enter manufacturing data into REDCap and Manufacturing Data Systems
Maintain detailed notes of experimental procedures, samples, and methods

20%
Assist with facility management:
Autoclave instruments and glassware
Prepare buffers and reagents
Conduct cleaning protocols between manufacturing runs

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* B.S. in laboratory science, biotechnology, or a related field OR a combination of education and relevant work experience equal to at least four years.
* Basic science laboratory experience, including work with microscopes
* Solid understanding of basic chemistry and experience in preparing reagents

Preferred Qualifications:
* Work experience in a scientific laboratory in biological or chemical fields
* Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices
* Experience in basic microbiology laboratory techniques
* Familiarity with basic statistics

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20-25/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
