Responsibilities

Summary/Objective:

The CNC Programmer will write CNC programs parts and assist other machinists with creating and modifying CNC programs. The CNC Programmer will also utilize CAD/CAM . The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized, and clean work environment and adheres to our Quality Standards.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ensure production schedule completion and facilitate quality paperwork.
  2. Understand 2D CAD and can create CNC programs complex new parts as needed.
  3. Assists in creating and maintaining setup/instruction sheets for all programs.
  4. Develop and assist with the design of fixtures.
  5. Review CNC programs, inserts and tooling to minimize machining cycle times and reduce tooling costs.
  6. Assist with part quoting estimates.
  7. Manage all insert and tooling inventory. Recommend and specify insert tooling.
  8. Complete special assignments as requested.
  9. Properly and safely loads and unloads raw materials in CNC machinery.
  10. Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  11. Ability to setup, program, operate and troubleshoot CNC Routers without assistance. Must be self-sufficient.
  12. Ability to reduce setup time and machining through process improvements.
  13. Must be proficient with plant specific controls (FANUC).
  14. Understands, interprets, and edits plant specific code programming.
  15. Recognizes, deploys, and properly uses inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
  16. Understands and has the ability to perform tool wear offsets.
  17. Assists in daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery.
  18. Is flexible with time and schedule to assure availability to customer or company as circumstances warrant.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school
  2. Minimum of 2-4 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  5. Minimum of 10 years in a professional machine shop workplace
  6. Working knowledge of G-Code programming
  7. Working knowledge of AlphaCAM or similar CAD/CAM software
  8. Knowledgeable with designing in Draftsight/Autocad
  9. Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings
  10. Experience using calipers, micrometers, bore gages and other machine shop measuring instruments
  11. Familiar with computers and computer technology
  12. Creative, thinks outside of the box
  13. Strong technical aptitude: has the ability to visualize fabrication steps and think through a complete manufacturing process
  14. Must be able to communicate effectively with other team members to explain ideas and concepts
  15. Organized, able to maintain clean and orderly work area
  16. Drives at root cause to solve problems
  17. Team player
  18. Must read, write and speak English

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

The team member may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours of work and days are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.
