Description

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager and the Supervisor, provides administrative support to the Heart/Lung Transplant Program.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation and processing of patient referrals
  • Screening of program-related calls
  • Scheduling and coordination of outpatient procedures for transplant evaluation
  • Preparation and maintenance of patient charges
  • Obtaining authorization for patient evaluations and admissions,
  • Assisting in outpatient clinic,typing, faxing and maintaining weekly records for Transplant Program
Salary Range: $29.42-$42.14/hourly
Qualifications Required:
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate with patients, referring physicians, transplant team members, insurance companies case managers, governmental agencies, hospital staff, and other groups in a professional, diplomatic manner over the telephone and in person
  • Ability to abstract medical information accurately from patient file
  • Working knowledge of resources within outpatient and an acute care medical center with commensurate ability to refer individuals to appropriate departments
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated skill in operating a PC and laser printer to quickly and accurately prepare, type and distribute forms, correspondence, and schedules
  • Demonstrated skill in routine data entry
  • Demonstrated skill in operating copy machine, and other standard office equipment
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential patient information
  • Previous experience in a health care setting working with health care professionals and patients
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of UCLA Medical Center policy and procedures
