Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30am-3:30pm

This full-time position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Support Asst I, Driver will assist with transporting clients enrolled to and from Adult Day Programs on a fixed route, as well as assisting with community integration activities into the community. These activities include client interaction such as assisting with feeding, daily games/exercises, etc. This position will also serve as a backup to our Van Driver. When performing this task, the incumbent will provide transportation services to our clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Transportation:



  • The Program Support Asst I, Driver must exhibit sound judgment when speaking with and assisting the clients. The incumbent will pick up and drop off clients from their home and deliver them to and from the Adult Day Program in a safe and timely matter. The incumbent must be able to alter their route according to daily pick-up schedule, adjusting for the safest and most efficient course to deliver clients to the program and back home. The incumbent must be able to read and understand maps and use a GPS (Global Positioning System) and follow all rules and regulations driving in the state of Colorado. This position is also responsible for driving clients to and from community activities throughout the week.


Van Maintenance and Safety:



  • The Driver is responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle's interior and exterior. The driver will ensure all clients utilize seat belts at all times as well as assist clients on and off the vans at all times. The driver will ensure the vehicle's fuel tank is maintained at least half full at all times.


Tracking and Reporting:



  • The Driver will conduct and document the vehicle inspection sheet for the vehicle prior to operating and report any vehicle deficiencies to the supervisor immediately. The driver will maintain a good working knowledge of vehicle accident reporting.


Relationship Management:



  • The Van Driver will communicate effectively with clients, co-workers, and staff personnel. In addition, the driver will engage and maintain conversations/interactions/responses with clients that encourage independence and respect. The incumbent will also perform all other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:



  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.


Experience:



  • One (1)-year experience driving a 14-passenger van preferred but not required.


Other:



  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with clients that may have intellectual and/or development disabilities, cognitive disorders, learning disorders, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease.
  • At Goodwill's expense, the driver must be willing to be certified in CPR and 1st Aid.
  • Must be able to work full-time, Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:30pm, with an hour lunch break.
  • Must maintain a professional attitude, appropriate hygiene, dress/grooming and be punctual/dependable.
  • Must be comfortable driving in inclement weather.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.

  • The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*.




*Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least:



  • 19 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation),
  • 25 - 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services,
  • 21 years of age for CDL.


Applicants/employee will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants/employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last five (5) years)(Note: not all violations are a disqualification for employment and each case will be reviewed by the insurance carrier); must have valid Colorado State driver license; must also be able to operate company vehicle, and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.

Applicants/employees using their personal vehicle for company business (receiving company mileage reimbursement), must have valid vehicle insurance, valid driver license, and vehicle must be in roadworthy condition.
