OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

Member of the team which operates Broad's internal network, infrastructure, data centers, and public cloud presence. Participate in the planning, design, implementation and maintenance of network hardware, software and systems solutions across multiple platforms to support IT requirements. Assist with the development of IT security strategies. Participate in the planning and monitoring of space and power within the Broad data centers, ensuring efficient use, accurate tracking and proper installation.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Participate in the design, configuration and installation of network and data center hardware
  • Monitor the infrastructure resources for usage and problems, using existing and new monitoring tools
  • Monitor the network for intrusions and harmful traffic
  • Diagnose infrastructure failures and resolve problems
  • Create and maintain documentation of data center components, infrastructure design and technical procedures
  • Fulfill networking related service requests from users and fellow IT personnel
  • Evaluate and test new network technologies and plan for their use
  • Share on-call support for nights and weekends with other members of the IT Department, as needed
  • Project management of small to medium sized projects, as assigned by team leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Networking experience including understanding routing, switching, WAN, LAN, VPN, Firewalls and other internetworking technologies in a large, multi-site environment.
  • Basic knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible, Git, Puppet, Chef, etc
  • Knowledge equivalent to CCNA or greater - certificates are not required
  • Working knowledge of at least 1 scripting language, Python and Bash preferred
  • Working knowledge of common desktop operating systems including Windows, Macintosh and Linux
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Ability to climb and work on a ladder up to 4'
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to use manual and power tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches and drills

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCES

  • 5 years of experience minimum preferred, candidates with industry specific knowledge and experience with less years are highly encouraged to apply
  • Basic knowledge of data center electrical standards and related calculations, cooling and air handling
  • Experience with Juniper, Palo Alto, Solarwinds, and Cisco
  • Experience with BGP and EVPN-VXLAN is preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Prior experience with public cloud
  • Prior on-call support and ability to work independently during off-hours as needed
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment
