Software Developer
Position Summary:
As Software Developer and part of the development team, you will provide support development efforts building new web applications as well as modernizing legacy applications. This is part of the Digital Information Technology and Cyber Network Infrastructure efforts at Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) located in China Lake and Point Mugu. This position is 100% at Government location.
Clearance Required:
- Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop new custom-built web applications and modernize legacy applications.
- Follow an agile approach, working in sprints to ensure projects meet customer expectations.
- Conduct analysis of business needs, followed by design and feature planning.
- Emphasize user experience, ensuring solutions are intuitive, scalable, easy to use, and visually appealing.
- Work closely with customers throughout the development process to understand unique business needs and create custom solutions.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Experience will be accepted in lieu of degree
- Must have an IAT Lvl II or III qualified certification (e.g. Security+, CISSP, etc.)
- At least 3 years' experience in Software Development
- Extensive knowledge required of modern web and back-end technologies, included but not limited to, HTLM5, CSS3, JavaScript, Vue.js, Node.js, Python, C#, Microsoft .NET, and SQL.
- Experience with agile software development approach, by working 2 week sprints to ensure the project is on track and meets customer's expectations.
- Experience providing bug fixes, change requests, content management, user training, and spot checking for Section 508 review.
- Experienced implementing/following DISA Application Security and Development Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG)
- Experienced with the following Databases: SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
- Experienced with the following Frameworks: Vue.js, GraphQL, OpenShift, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, MVC, Entity Framework, NHibernate, LINQ, HTML, CSS, JQuery, XML, JSON, AJAX, and REST.
- Programming Languages & Other: DevSecOps, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, Visual Studio, Object-Oriented, jQuery, Git, Gitlab.
- Ability to self-learn and stay up to date with new technologies and trends.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and punctuality in a fast-paced work environment.
- Good organizational and dependable time management skills to meet project deadlines.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail, with the ability to thoroughly and accurately review and test code.
- Ability to follow instructions and guidelines, with a strong understanding of development processes and procedures.
- Good problem-solving skills, with analytical thinking to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
- Ability to travel to the client site as needed, with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing project requirements.
Additional Technical Experience:
- Experience working in the FlankSpeed environment, with a strong understanding of its unique requirements and challenges.
- Exposure to ServiceNow, with knowledge of its capabilities and applications in IT service management.
- Exposure to SPORK (GIT), with experience using Git-based version control systems for collaborative development and code management.
Physical Demands and Expectations:
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
- Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
