This role provides strategic support to project teams, ensuring compliance with domestic and international regulations from development to commercialization. They play a vital role in Trident Seafood Corporation, a global leader in vertically integrated seafood production for human food, pet food, and supplements, ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting the company's reputation, and maintaining market access worldwide. Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supplier, ingredient, and contract manufacturer approvals, including documentation review, product testing, and facility audits.
- Manages quality testing programs conducted by third-party laboratories, for shelf-life evaluations, stability studies, nutritional analysis, claim substantiation, ingredient authenticity, Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and United States Pharmacopeia Dietary Supplement Verification Program (USP DSVP). Leads the synthesis and interpretation of laboratory data to inform strategic decision making with cross functional partners.
- Develops and advocates for solutions to enhance products, systems, testing methods, workflows, and quality policies, aiming to boost efficiency and remain current with industry advancements.
- Responsible for creation and continuous refinement of QA documentation and PLM system data, ensuring comprehensive coverage of specifications, ingredients, claims, nutritional panels, microbial parameters, allergen declarations, labels, disclosures, safe handling protocols, and USDA technical proposals for child nutrition programs.
- Conducts thorough reviews and approvals of product label content to ensure full compliance with applicable state, federal, and international labeling standards and regulations for food, pet food, and supplements. This responsibility is critical for maintaining regulatory compliance, safeguarding the company's reputation, and ensuring uninterrupted access to diverse markets.
- Develops comprehensive product information for proactive customer Q&A responses which are accurate, legally defensible, and aligned with product performance authenticity. This ensures standardized customer service messaging and enables consistent, informative communication on electronic platforms to effectively address common customer inquiries.
This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $95,000 to $110,000. Trident Seafoods offers a comprehensive and quality benefits package. Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in food safety, quality assurance, and/or regulatory compliance, preferably in the seafood industry or related fields (Human food, pet food, or supplements).
- Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
- Proven experience with supplier, ingredient, and contract manufacturer approval programs, including documentation review, product testing, and facility audits.
- In-depth knowledge of State, Federal, and international regulatory requirements for food, pet food, and supplements (e.g., FDA, USDA, and international standards such as Codex Alimentarius).
- Expertise in labeling requirements and regulatory standards for food safety compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 for business, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A master's degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or related field.
- Strong background in managing third-party laboratory testing programs, with a focus on shelf-life evaluations, stability studies, nutritional analysis, claim substantiation, and ingredient authenticity.
- Advanced understanding of QA documentation needs and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify hazards and implement mitigation strategies effectively.
- Excellent project management skills to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Procurement, and Sales.

Work Environment This hybrid position will be a combination of remote and onsite at the Trident Support Center office in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA. Our hybrid work environment includes remote work on Monday and Friday and in-office in the Support Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.
