THE POSITION

Are you interested in playing a key role in mitigating cyber risks across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania? The Enterprise Information Security Office is seeking an experienced IT professional with a proven track record of maintaining the security of digital infrastructures. This position allows you to showcase your expertise as you analyze and interpret complex information as well as logically troubleshoot discrepancies. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Security Operations Center Director, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Security Operations Center (SOC), ensuring that the Commonwealth's digital assets, networks, and information systems are safeguarded against both current and emerging cyber threats. Work involves developing and implementing proactive security strategies, managing a team of cybersecurity professionals, and coordinating efforts to detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents. This position allows you to apply your extensive working knowledge to ensure the Commonwealth adheres to industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and internal security policies, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement to stay ahead of evolving cyber risks. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other IT professionals and security teams to identify critical focus areas, including improving incident response times, reducing false positives, and enhancing threat detection capabilities. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Providing training and mentorship opportunities
  • Establishing SCO goals and priorities
  • Reviewing performance metrics, incident reports, and other key indicators
  • Monitoring staffing to support the teams' capabilities
  • Developing incident response plans and standard procedures
  • Serving as primary contact between the SOC team, internal stakeholders, and external parties such as vendors, clients, or regulatory bodies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Twelve years of professional information technology experience; or
  • Eight years of professional information technology experience and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification
  • CIH (Certified Incident Handler) certification

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
