National Grid is hiring a Head ofSocial Impact & Community Engagement Operations for ourCorporate Affairs team. This position will be located in our Boston, MA office, or Brooklyn, NY office with hybrid working.

Job Purpose

The Head of Social Impact & Community Engagement Operations will be a key leader within the Social Impact and Community Engagement (SICE) Center of Excellence (COE) team, responsible for overseeing the operational effectiveness of the company's corporate giving, community engagement, employee volunteering, and the charitable activities of National Grid. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that the company's philanthropic and social impact initiatives are strategically aligned, well-executed, and deliver measurable value to UK and US communities. As the Head of Strategic Operations for the SICE COE, you also will lead the Portfolio, Risk and Chief of Staff areas. These horizontal functions in addition to Program Operations blend strategy, delivery and operations together under one leader. You will be responsible for bringing visibility to the portfolio of work assigned across the organization, in alignment with business strategies, delivering key programs, overseeing Risk and the broader Chief of Staff deliverables.

Key Accountabilities

*As part of the SICE leadership team, support the Global Head of Social Impact & Community Engagement with the development, refinement and implementation of a best-in-class strategy geared to discharge National Grid's grant giving, community engagement, volunteering, and philanthropic efforts.
*Collaborate with other leaders on the SICE leadership team to shape the overall strategy and direction of the department and serve as the leader of results, communications and oversight.
*Responsible for providing regular updates to fellow SICE COE leaders on the health, risks and impediments of the programs being led by your operations team. In addition, you will ensure the organization is meeting the key milestones and regulatory obligations.
*Running the Portfolio and Metrics team to provide key insights and delivery recommendations across key initiatives. Strategizing on how to operate efficiently while providing data and recommendations for how to make improvements across the organization.
*Manage a team responsible for operationalizing corporate giving, community engagement, and employee volunteering programs.
*Identify training needs for SICE team and support performance management to ensure a high-performing team.
*Oversee workplan development and implementation to execute against annual COE goals and strategic initiatives, monitoring progress and responding to real-time needs to ensure success, with support from the manager of operations.
*Provide day-to-day operational support to aid success in the following areas to ensure effective communication of the COE's social impact outcomes and community engagement efforts:

*Work within a matrixed wider Corporate Affairs Operations team and support the Corporate Affairs team with COE specific information such as KPIs and metrics, budget, efficiency deliverables, performance and strategic planning inputs, tracking and delivery.
*Work with finance, ensure effective budget management and efficient resource utilization through annual financial planning processes and routine analysis to guide the COE decision-making.
*Oversee and manage the budget for the SICE team.
*Implement the grant giving and employee giving processes.
*Monitor, measure and evaluate the impact of philanthropic efforts and employee volunteering programs, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
*Act as a key advisor to challenge and improve the effectiveness of the company's grant-giving strategies.
*Act as the operational right hand to the Group Head of Social Impact & Community Engagement, ensuring efficient team functioning and effective information flow.
*Prepare briefings and ensure the Group Head is well-supported in decision-making and strategy execution.
*Maintain momentum and delivery of results on key strategic initiatives ongoing in the COE, including engagement and alignment to the Responsible Business Charter, and addressing gaps/issues raised inside of Corporate Affairs and the CO
*Build strong relationships across the company, influencing stakeholders to align with social impact goals.
*Represent the SICE team internally, advocating for the company's social impact strategy.
*Drive connection and shared learning between SICE team members through collaborative professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree
* At least 10 years of program/project delivery, product development experience
* At least 8 years of people management experience

* Proven experience in grant-giving operations within a large, complex, CSR-focused organization.
* Strong leadership and management skills with experience leading diverse teams.
* Exceptional organizational skills and proficiency in IT systems relevant to program management and reporting.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
* Analytical mindset with experience in impact measurement and evaluation.
* High level of attention to detail and commitment to excellence in program execution.
* Experience in budget management and governance processes.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence stakeholders based on the ability to adjust approach to meet unique needs across multiple stakeholder groups within a complex and highly technical organization.

$190k - $240k a year in Boston, MA.

$203k - $258k a year in Brooklyn, NY.
