We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Software Development to lead our software engineering organization focused on wireless communication technologies. This role requires a strong leader with a proven ability to plan, execute, deliver, and support enterprise-grade networking products and solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, particularly Product Management, to define and execute the product roadmap while fostering a culture of technical excellence and team cohesion.
What you will do:
- Lead the planning, development, and deployment of software solutions across cellular, WiFi, and wired networking technologies.
- Drive execution and delivery of large-scale, complex software projects, ensuring high quality, scalability, and performance.
- Collaborate with Product Management to shape the product roadmap and align technical execution with strategic objectives.
- Build, grow, and mentor high-performing software development teams with a strong, cohesive culture.
- Ensure effective software lifecycle management, including design reviews, testing, documentation, and ongoing support.
- Champion innovation and the application of new technologies, including AI/ML, to improve product intelligence and performance.
- Maintain strong cross-functional relationships with QA, DevOps, Technical Support, and Field Engineering teams.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership across the full software stack, from embedded systems to cloud-based services.
The skills you bring:
- 10+ years of software development experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade networking products from concept to customer deployment.
- Deep knowledge of wireless communication technologies including 4G/5G cellular, WiFi (802.11x), and wired networking (Ethernet, TCP/IP).
- Hands-on experience with large-scale software systems and distributed architectures.
- Experience working in or closely with carrier/operator environments is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, CI/CD, and Agile practices.
- Full-stack development experience is a strong plus.
- Experience or strong interest in integrating AI/ML technologies into software systems
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in embedded systems, cloud-native architectures, and modern programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, Go, JavaScript).
- Familiarity with network management systems, telemetry, and analytics platforms.

Your Pay
The salary range for this position is listed below. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
- CALIFORNIA: $235,600 - 309,225

Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 15 days of accrued vacation, up to 3 personal days per year, 11 annual holidays, 8 hours of volunteer time, and 80 hours of sick time annually. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
