Under supervision of Director of the Histopathology Lab in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, the individual will conduct routine and specialized laboratory procedures - particularly histological - record test results, assist with laboratory management, and ensure that equipment is maintained and functional.

Education
Bachelor's Degree in biological science preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The candidate must possess a thorough understanding of laboratory policies, procedures, and sterile technique. While prior experience in a research laboratory is beneficial, it is not required. The individual must be well-organized, have good manual dexterity, and possess an understanding of cross-cultural differences. They may be exposed to hazardous chemicals within a controlled environment.

Under supervision, the individual will primarily perform various histological assays, including tissue collection/harvesting, embedding, cryosectioning, routine and immunohistochemical staining, and advanced computer-assisted color image analysis. She/he will also participate in tissue harvesting for animal studies and the preparation of human tissues. Opportunities may arise to engage in additional laboratory experiments, such as culturing primary cells and cell lines, extracting DNA, RNA, and proteins, conducting RT-PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, cell sorting, FACS, and preparing samples for proteomics. The individual will adhere to established protocols and methodologies, maintain equipment and supplies in an organized manner, and keep accurate records of methodologies and findings in a lab notebook. They will identify and report unusual findings to their supervisor(s) and participate in compliance with regulatory agencies, local hospital safety surveys, and procedures, including chemical inventories.
