The Architect undergrad intern supports a variety of projects and initiatives led by the administrative team of the Property Services division.
Duration: May 2025 to August 2025. Up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Work Location: Primarily on-site with work locations being City Hall and/or Royalston. Hybrid maybe considered less than 10% of time.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Attend and document construction and design meetings
Visits construction and renovation sites for assessment and documentation of conditions
Perform field work (evaluation of existing sites) as directed by senior project management team members
Collect and verify existing facility information, update data and associated building statistics via digital plans, photographs, or informative graphics
Provide support on facility assessment efforts to include energy data collection
Provides project support in facilities to execute occupancy/move in
Prepares scale drawings, models and construction documents for small scaled building operations projects
Assists in processing information for customer correspondence
Prepare special items such as color boards and design mock-ups
Coordinate with internal team as needed
Other duties as assigned by senior project management team
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled as an architectural or engineering student in an accredited college
Preferred Education: Completed minimum of three years toward architectural or engineering degree
Selection Process
The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience and/or an oral examination (100%). It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess. This information will be used to determine which candidates will proceed in the selection process. A submitted application is also used to verify the answers to any supplemental questions. Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process.

The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Eligible List Statement
The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with software to include CAD and BIM software packages
Experience with graphics/rendering software (SketchUp, Adobe, Revit, AutoCad, Rhino)
Understanding and ability to read construction document drawings and specification packages
Ability to review submittals and RFI's
