Job Summary
Barrett Paving Materials is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plant Mechanic to join our team in the Mid West Central region. The Plant Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of equipment used in our asphalt and aggregate production facilities. This role is essential to ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plant machinery, including crushers, screens, asphalt plants, and other equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues to identify problems and implement effective solutions.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as lubricating equipment, changing filters, and replacing worn parts.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations while working on equipment and within the plant environment.
- Collaborate with plant personnel to schedule maintenance and repairs to minimize disruption to operations.
- Stay updated on new technologies and repair techniques related to plant machinery and equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in mechanics or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a construction, manufacturing, or heavy equipment environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including dust, noise, and varying weather.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights as required.
