Ardelyx is a publicly traded commercial biopharmaceutical company founded with a mission to discover, develop and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs. Ardelyx has two commercial products approved in the United States, IBSRELA (tenapanor) and XPHOZAH (tenapanor). Ardelyx has agreements for the development and commercialization of tenapanor outside of the U.S. Kyowa Kirin commercializes PHOZEVEL (tenapanor) for hyperphosphatemia in Japan. A New Drug Application for tenapanor for hyperphosphatemia has been approved in China with Fosun Pharma. Knight Therapeutics commercializes IBSRELA in Canada.

Position Summary:
The Vice President of Trade and Channel Market Access will lead the development and execution of strategies to optimize product access and distribution across key markets. including managing relationships with wholesalers, distributors, and specialty pharmacies. This role will oversee the trade strategy, optimize distribution channels, and drive growth across key markets. In addition, this individual will work cross-functionally within Market Access & Patient Services and across Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure effective channel strategies that align with overall business goals.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute market access plans including wholesaler, distributor, and specialty pharmacy relationships, enhancing market reach and sales while appropriately managing gross-to-net
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with key wholesalers, distributors, and specialty pharmacies negotiating contracts and ensuring alignment
  • Work cross-functionally within Market Access & with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to integrate channel strategies with company goals
  • Track and optimize channel performance using KPIs, ensuring growth and profitability
  • Stay updated on market trends and competitor activity, providing insights to refine strategies or create innovative opportunities
  • Oversee the trade and channel budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation
  • Lead and mentor a high-performance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Ensure all market access and trade activities comply with industry regulations and standards
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field (Master's preferred) with 15+ years of experience in trade and channel management with a focus on wholesalers, distributors, and specialty pharmacies or equivalent experience
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and business acumen
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement systems and pricing models preferred
  • Experience managing large wholesalers, distributors and specialty pharmacy networks, with industry-specific knowledge preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues and influence across a cross-functional matrix organization
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with demonstrated ability to think creatively and devise solutions to challenging problems
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $306,000-$374,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
Ardelyx also offers a robust benefits package to employees, including a 401(k) plan with generous employer match, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, up to 12 weeks of living organ and bone marrow leave, equity incentive plans, health plans (medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision),life insurance and disability, flexible time off, annual Winter Holiday shut down, and at least 11 paid holidays.
