Almac Group is currently seeking a Business Development Director located on the West Coast of the U.S. The
Business Development Director is to develop sales with new prospects as well as nurture/grow sales with existing clients, for Almac Science's Services within the agreed West Coast Territory/ Client Base.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identify potential clients, visit client site and / or host at Almac site, present Almac Sciences capabilities and value propositions leading to receipt of CDAs and RFPs for relevant Almac Sciences services. Represent Almac at various Industry Trade Shows and Conferences and provide reports of relevant activity and feedback on conference value.
- Almac Sciences capabilities are as follows:
- Development and non-GMP / cGMP manufacture of Small Molecule and Peptide APIs
- Development and non-GMP manufacture of Regulatory Starting Materials and Advanced Intermediates
- Custom synthesis for discovery support, reference standards and impurities.
- Biocatalysts and custom / flow chemistry services
- Isotope labelling
- Physical Sciences
- Analytical Services incl. Biologics
- Facilitate Preparation of competitive proposals for RFPs, including clear agreement on deliverables, budget and timeline, provide compelling presentation of Proposal to customers, and negotiate modification if necessary to lead to contract and PO wins. Monitor delivery of project to ensure customer satisfaction and mediate any issues between technical team and customer if necessary.
- Monitor industry trends and provide strategic guidance to management on offerings and potential areas of expansion / growth to better serve market demands.
- Agree with financial and personal performance targets with Senior Management and maintain all activities within these agreed objectives.
- Provide reports to BD management on customer visits, proposals, contracts status and forecast of activity to track progress against annual financial targets. Use appropriate database programs (Salesforce).
Qualifications:
Required Experience / Education:
- Bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical science, life science or physical science.
- Some experience within CMO business development environment.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of Pharma / Biotech sector in US.
- Demonstrated success in developing the customer base, closing sales and delivering on financial goals.
- Knowledge of drug development process, including basic knowledge of the regulatory requirements for various phases of development.
- General knowledge of chemistry, analytical and drug formulation.
- General knowledge of the structure of the pharmaceutical industry and it's supporting industries, including 'Big Pharma', Biotech's, virtual companies, CROs, CMOs, etc.
- Valid Driver's License and Passport
Preferred Experience / Education:
- PhD in Chemistry or Scientific Discipline
- 5-15 years sales experience within a small molecule API CDMO workplace.
- General knowledge of classes of therapeutic drugs and their mechanism of action.
- Synthetic Organic chemistry and analytical methods.
- Can work productively independently with minor supervision
- Self-motivated, flexible, dependable and available
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
