Job Summary:



  • Responsible for tactical and operational supply chain planning and network optimization of bulk ASU products (LIN, LOX and LAR) in US and Canada.
  • Identify and assesses longer term projects/opportunities that deliver cost savings, productivity, and efficiency improvements in the ASU supply chain.
  • Provides key supply chain input to strategic growth initiatives.
  • This position is the primary interface between Supply and the field sales organizations to understand changes in current and future demand and to ensure the supply network is prepared to serve that demand at the lowest overall delivered cost

Principal Responsibilities:

Primary Interface between Markets/Sales, Strategic Product Management, and Operations for ASU products:



  • Primary day-to-day interface with account managers and regional Markets leadership on understanding changes in customer demand that will affect supply network configuration
  • Provide product availability and costing analyses to Strategic Product Management for over DOA-based new business and investment case analyses and senior management for overall business management
  • Executes ASU energy and diesel surcharge policy defined by Strategic Product Management and Markets based on major cost changes within the network
  • Support Tonnage account managers on liquid back-up or supplemental concerns (volume availability and costing)


Tactical Supply Chain Planning and Optimization:



  • Assigns plant production rates, operating modes and inventory targets in collaboration with Remote Operating Center engineers and Energy Procurement team to minimize overall product This includes day-of plant turndowns/shutdowns to meet power reduction obligations and minimize/avoid peak power costs.
  • Responsible for coordinating with scheduling teams on inventory vs alternate sourcing needs to minimize impact to customers.
  • Ensures all mid- and long-term purchase agreements are utilized based on lowest total incremental costs.
  • Responsible for development, use and compliance to proprietary network optimization systems (TACT), including quality of inputs and adherence to outputs.
  • Execute supply reviews with Supply field regions and develop operational plans for Sales and Operations Planning. Sets transport resource levels required to fulfil plan while minimizing assets and costs.


Operative Supply Chain Response:



  • Responsible for ensuring sufficient inventory for all pipeline demand (gaseous) and internal plant uses through inventory planning via plant mode changes, liquid product transfers between storage tanks, liquid imports (as required) and/or coordinating deliveries from third parties.
  • Plan, track and own the outage process for ASU. Includes developing plans, forecasting and tracking costs, and providing timely communication on the status of the network during planned and unplanned outages.


Systems Usage & Maintenance



  • Parcview, J5, Telemetry
  • TACT, Optimizer and potential new, future network optimization tools
  • Sales and Operations Planning including Demand Planning tools
  • SAP and GOLD
  • SAP Analytics Cloud for data visualization


Others:



  • Supervises ASU logistics analyst who is responsible for immediate term coordination of supply network, managing finished product inventories and take-or-pays and FOB (pickup) customers
  • Responsible for developing key operational assumptions and associated costs for the annual budgeting process and on-going reforecasts, including purchases, rail shipments, planned outage (dislocation) costs



Qualifications:

Required qualifications and experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in logistics, supply chain, business or engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in industrial gases or related process industry with supply chain management experience
  • C.P., M.B.A. and six sigma certifications are a plus


Required key skills:



  • Strong strategic and tactical thinking are required to analyze and manage a dynamic national network.
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • SAP skills are required.
  • Strong, effective communications are required.
  • Ideal candidate would understand when to push issues and when to let a system work to correct it.
  • Strong prioritization management skills are a must.
