Grounds Keeper (Day Shift- Full time)

Performs routine service and maintenance of all hospital grounds to ensure patient, staff and visitor safety. Responsible for the planting and maintenance of all trees, shrubs, and plantings on the Hospital complex to ensure an aesthetic appearance.

1. Performs cleaning of hospital grounds to present a proper appearance to our customers, staff and visitors.

• 1.1 Cleans papers and all other debris around all hospital buildings, and main entrances 95% of the time as observed by the supervisor.

2. Services and maintains all Hospital grounds to ensure a pleasant and safe environment.

• 2.1 Mows, trims, edges, and waters on a weekly or as needed basis.

3. Performs snow removal services during the winter to provide a safe and passable environment for staff, visitors and patients.

• 3.1 of all ice melt barrels are filled.

4. Lays out, services and maintains all flower beds located throughout the Hospital complex.

• 4.1 Selects the right type of plants which will grow correctly for each planting area and ensures that correct color arrangement is obtained as observed by the supervisor on a periodic basis.

5. Operates Hospital vehicles in a safe and proper manner while picking up or delivering equipment, supplies, parts, etc., for every department in the hospital.

• 5.1 Pick ups and deliveries are performed correctly in a timely manner to and from other hospitals with no more than two variances per year as observed by the supervisor

6. General responsibilites for the Groundskeeper to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing hospital environment.

• 6.1 Notifies supervisor immediately of any problems beyond the scope of the Groundskeeper to correct.

7. Knowledge and daily use of safety policies and procedures including Universal Precautions, Material Safety Data Sheets and asbestos abatement.

• 7.1 Attends Universal Precautions training classes once a year

EDUCATION

High school or equivalent experience. Additional course work in horticulture preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of professional landscaping experience required.

LICENSURE

Must have a current driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
