GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Directly reports to the Parks and Recreation Supervisor. Incumbents plan, coordinate, and monitor all aquatic activities and programs. Responsibilities may include recommending hiring seasonal and part-time staff; updating and implementing operating manuals; providing information for the development of a budget; monitoring a budget; maintaining records; and preparing operational reports. Incumbents supervise lower-level aquatics staff.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions:
Supervises aquatic staff by prioritizing and assigning tasks, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring proper training, enforcing policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, and making recommendations for hiring, termination, and discipline. Schedules employees and ensures that the facility is properly staffed. Approves all shift substitutions and time off requests. Submits work orders for the facilities for repairs. Maintains and updates operating manuals; implements procedures and monitors compliance. Assists in budget preparation and administration, which may include preparing cost estimates for budget recommendations, submitting justifications for budget items, and monitoring program expenditures. Collaborates with community groups and local organizations for the promotion of aquatic activities and events. Responds to inquiries and requests received from patrons. Submits the incident and accident report through the online submission. Submits recommendations for disciplinary action to the Parks and Recreation Supervisor. Prepares a variety of operational records and reports. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Performs other work as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Supervisor.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Three (3) years of experience in aquatic programming or related field, to include one (1) year in a supervisory position. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
License and Certifications:
Current Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Current Lifeguard Certification Current First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification Current Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Current Possession of a valid driver's license

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of:
Strong leadership and managerial skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisors, the public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction. Integrity, self-motivation, and the ability to work cooperatively with respect for members, guests, and other employees. Knowledge of rules and regulations governing the conduct of the public at all Aquatic Facilities. Ability to enforce rules and address employees' and/or patrons' questions and concerns in a diplomatic and professional manner. Skill in maintaining swimming pool filtration and sanitation systems. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies. Ability to understand and abide by department customer service standards and procedures. Computers and related software applications.
Physical Requirements: The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: Work Environment: Must be able to work with little to no temperature control and is routinely exposed to various chemicals (i.e., chlorine, muriatic acid, cleaning materials, and disinfectants). Exposed to extreme heat and humidity, works on uneven and/or slippery surfaces, and is periodically exposed to hazardous conditions/situations.
