Description

Position Summary:

The Maintenance MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing the MRO inventory and processes within the maintenance department. This role ensures the efficient procurement, storage, and availability of critical spare parts, materials, and tools required for maintenance activities. The MRO Specialist works closely with maintenance technicians, procurement teams, and operations to maintain equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Primary Duties:

  • MRO Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials necessary for maintenance operations. Maintain accurate records of stock levels, usage, and reorder points to ensure timely availability of critical items.
  • Procurement and Sourcing: Work with vendors and suppliers to source and procure MRO materials and equipment. Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and warranty terms to ensure cost-effective procurement and uninterrupted maintenance operations.
  • Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Support: Collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize parts and materials required for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Ensure that all necessary parts are available in advance to minimize downtime.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze usage trends, track inventory turnover, and report on key performance metrics (KPIs) such as stock-outs, lead times, and cost savings. Use data to optimize inventory levels and improve procurement processes.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with MRO suppliers and vendors to ensure reliable delivery and high-quality products. Address any supply chain issues or delays promptly.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all MRO materials and equipment meet safety and regulatory requirements. Maintain compliance with company policies, industry standards, and local regulations regarding storage, handling, and disposal of materials.
  • Cost Control and Budgeting: Monitor and control MRO spending, working within budgetary guidelines to manage costs. Look for opportunities to reduce expenses through improved procurement strategies or process improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to MRO processes, inventory management, and sourcing strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall equipment reliability.

Training, Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher in supply chain management, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of MRO or inventory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven experience in MRO inventory management, procurement, or a similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance operations, spare parts, and equipment used in manufacturing or production settings.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards related to maintenance and MRO materials.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain in stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and the like.
  • Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery.
  • Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
