What Your Job Will Be Like:

Are you passionate about facilities? We are seeking a highly motivated Facilities Technologist to join our team as we support construction, maintenance, and contract service activities!

This position includes a wide range of oversight of commercial and industrial construction related activities. This includes assisting the project team during the construction phase of a project by performing inspection activities, quality assurance, and coordination of a variety of activities with the construction supplier. The selected applicant will partner with all disciplines of code inspection and project team personnel to deliver the best possible product.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Act as the projects SDR and carry out the field administration of construction contracts for the ACS discipline to determine contractor's compliance with drawings and specifications, life safety, accessibility, quality, and minor safety standards.

• Understand and enforce the requirements in the International Building Codes, Sandia Design Manual, Specifications and Standards.

• Conduct field visits to job sites to observe and evaluate construction work.

• Complete field reports documenting the progress, quality, and safety of construction work.

• Ensures Requests for Information (RFI's) ASI's, Change Orders, and red lines are incorporated by contractors.

• Assist contractors in obtaining permits and ensuring permit requirements are met.

• Coordinate outages with the various disciplines as needed.

• Identify and resolve construction and minor safety issues and reports concerns to the SDR/construction safety group at Sandia.

• Support operational capabilities within facilities, including construction safety, permitting, document control, space management, energy monitoring, and information technology applications.

• Ensure all results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.

• Perform final inspections and provide timely and accurate inspection reports and documents acceptance of work.

  The selected candidate will need to be able to obtain a New Mexico Journeyman Carpenters License and the ICC - IBC Commercial Building Inspector certification.

  Overtime may be required and the selected candidate will need to have the ability to be on-call and work a flexible schedule.

  Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$62,400 - $120,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

• High School Diploma plus eight (8) or more years of construction experience in Architectural, Structural, and/or Civil disciplines.

• Experience with one or more of the following ACS building components and activities: footings, foundations, grading, drainage, framing, lath and gypsum board installations, site utilities, fire and smoke protection features, egress, life safety, or ADA/ABA accessibility.

• Active DOE L-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

• Active certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Commercial Building Inspector.

• Knowledge of and experience with practices including resource scheduling and direct interface with clients and subcontractors.

• Knowledgeable of Behavior Based Safety (BBS) procedures and construction practices.

• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or a technical vocational degree.

• Complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30-hour training.

• Experience with High Hazard facilities construction.

• Familiarity with systems supporting Clean Rooms.

• Technical writing experience.

• Knowledge of computer-aided drafting and design (CADD).

About Our Team:

The Facilities Integrated Services department (04925) provides building construction and alteration code compliance oversight and documentation across architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and energy systems. This department also provides inspection, minor safety oversight and work acceptance support for all construction projects performed at Sandia National Laboratories to ensure construction code compliance to include spec and process.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
