About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a Heat Treat Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Manchester and South Windsor, CT. The ideal candidate will support the operation, control, and monitoring of heat-treating processes and equipment while ensuring precision, quality, and safety. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish, implement and monitor engineering initiatives in compliance with customer and NADCAP requirements to provide continual improvement and conformance to industry and corporate goals and objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of Heat Treat (pyrometry, anneal, solution, precipitation hardening) and Brazing aerospace specifications
  • Performs system accuracy tests (SATs), leak up rate, dew point and hardness testing
  • Revises applicable HT/ Brazing procedures to meet everchanging customer and Nadcap requirements
  • Provides training of pyrometry, hardness and brazing for all operators annually
  • Performs first article work for NPI, obtaining customer HT/Brazing approval for new processes and alloys
  • Ability to understand furnace cycle charts to included ramp up, soak time and ramp down
  • Oversees design HT fixturing and tooling.
  • Oversees any records maintenance on HT furnace including any necessary re-certification and calibration.
  • Writes repair procedure for any rework or repair due to nonconformance. Works on and answers NMR's, utilizing root cause and corrective action.
  • Provides estimating with support when establishing quotes.
  • Creates and revises HT profiles using NC program to meet customer blueprint requirements or specifications
  • Prepares for, hosts and closes out any customer and NADCAP audits with support of Special Processes Leader.
  • Able to research, understand and implement new technologies for possible cost savings and process improvements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent Materials Science degree
  • 3-5 years experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Strong mathematics and heat transfer skills preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal working conditions with the absence of disagreeable elements. HT/ Brazing Engineers spend a good amount of time on the shop floor
  • Lifting capability of potentially 25 lbs.
  • Able sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • PPE will be provided and required during all aspects of work while in the Production environment.
