About the Department/School/Area

The School of Theatre & Dance at Texas Tech University champions training and education that is contemporary, exciting, and innovative in an inclusive and equitable environment. From their first semester on campus, our students direct, devise, design, dance, act, critique, dramaturg, and produce raw and fully designed events.

We in the School of Theatre & Dance recognize the continuous, intentional, and ever-evolving work of addressing historical and systemic injustice. Our students come from all walks of life and deserve to have the richness of their diverse backgrounds reflected in and supported by our teaching and practice. Recent coordinated efforts within the School have centered on diversifying and supporting faculty, transforming curricula, and reforming production practices, all with the goal of sustaining a place for artists, scholars, and educators to reach their full potential. As a community in transition that stands against racism, xenophobia, homophobia, sexism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, classism, ableism, hate speech, ageism, and actions that silence, threaten, marginalize, or degrade others, we invite individuals who will bring their lived and creative experiences to our program to join us on this journey.
