Responsible for assisting the Production Manager with various department tasks including but not limited to monitoring production and repairs produced within the Optics Department. Acts as the point of contact for the team when Department Manager is not present. REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Production Manager with the department's adherence to schedules, ensuring daily metrics are met, and all team members are adhering to established processes and procedures with all proper documentation.
- Assists with production, repair, and capacity planning as directed by the Production Manager.
- Evaluates and tracks production-related data as assigned by the Production Manager.
- Provides encouragement to colleagues, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for training or skill checks.
- Works with the Production Manager to conduct training and maintains training documentation for department employees.
- Maintains and complies with departmental SOP's and ensure employee compliance.
- Maintains accurate record keeping and performs SAP system entries for completed work in the department.
- Handles consumables supply and expiration tracking to ensure uninterrupted work in the department.
- Assists with identifying the needs of tools, equipment, consumables, etc. and supports the requisition, production and modification as required.
- Monitors, and, where applicable, performs basic maintenance on equipment used in the department and documents the work performed in Company systems.
- Maintains files of equipment, preventative maintenance and certifications.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to the creation and improvement of processes and procedures.
- Ensures Department's Quality standards are met, and ability to contribute to CAPA resolution and NC (nonconformance) resolution.
- Aware of and complies with the RWMIC Quality Manual and regulations & requirements as they apply to this job type/position.
- Completes all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned by Production Manager - Optics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience & managing personnel.
- Vocational/Technical Education preferred. Knowledge in the field of optics and their functions is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Great time management skills, ability to prioritize workloads, and organizational skills. Works with a sense of urgency & focus and is proactive in their approach to work.
- Hands-on attitude combined with an aptitude for process/workflow optimization.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints/schematics.
- Intermediate PC skills and familiarity with all MS Office suite products
- Ability to learn specific programs & software (SAP ERP system).
- Familiar with Imperial and Metric Measurement System; able to use various tools and measuring instruments.
- Experience with and understanding of multi-cultural and multi-generational differences and the ability to work within this environment is crucial for successful employment.
