The Common Hardware Group (CHG) delivers the silicon, optics, and hardware platforms for Cisco's core Switching, Routing, and Wireless products. Come join us and take part in shaping Cisco's revolutionary solutions by designing, developing and testing some of the most complex ASICs being developed in the industry.

Your Impact:

As a CAD Support Engineer, you will provide expert-level support for Synthesis and Place & Route tools and related EDA flows. You will partner closely with our design teams to ensure optimal tool performance, resolve issues, and drive methodology improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tool Support & Optimization: Troubleshoot and support P&R tools (e.g., Innovus, Fusion Compiler), optimize settings, constraints, and flows for performance, timing closure, and power efficiency, and work with EDA vendors to resolve issues.
  • Methodology Development & Automation: Develop and maintain CAD methodologies, scripts, and automation using Tcl, Python, and Shell to enhance P&R efficiency and design productivity.
  • Tool Evaluation & Deployment: Assess new P&R tool releases, deploy updates while ensuring compatibility, and monitor/debug tool performance, memory, and runtime issues.
  • Training & Documentation: Provide training, documentation, and best practices to design engineers for effective tool usage.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in CAD support, ASIC design, or related roles with a focus on Place & Route tools.
  • Strong expertise in Innovus, Fusion Compiler, and other P&R tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as TCL, Python, Perl, and Shell for CAD automation.
  • Experience with timing analysis, power optimization and physical verification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to debugging and tool optimization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
