You will be joining the Cisco IoT Control Center organization, part of the Networking Group within Cisco. Cisco IoT Control Center is the #1 market leading cellular connectivity management platform. Our global organization is responsible for all engineering and operational tasks of the Control Center product and the Private 5G platform: feature development, release, production operations, and customer support. Cisco's IoT organization is responsible for supporting over 273 million connected devices every day. This team is charged with driving the digital experience, infrastructure management, and automation strategies for the IoT portfolio of products.

Your Impact

At Cisco Systems, Inc. customer experience is at the forefront of everything we do. To help us build functional systems that improve customer experience we are now looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). You will be responsible for deploying product updates, identifying production issues, implementing integrations and automations solutions that meet our customers' needs. If you have a solid background in large scale production operations, observability, automation, full grasp of Ansible, AWS, and Python, we'd love to speak with you.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, enhance, and build tools.
  • Experience with managing infrastructure, observability stack, and ability to document clear requirements.
  • Work on ways to automate repeatable tasks and optimize stand procedures.
  • Test, examine code written by others, and analyze results.
  • Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
  • Identify, isolate technical problems, and develop software updates and or fixes.
  • Plan out projects and be involved in project management decisions.
  • Experienced with deploying updates and code fixes.
  • Implement automation enhancements.
  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
  • Develop or manage software to integrate with internal back-end systems.
  • Lead root cause analysis activities.
  • Participate in production support on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field and 5+ years of experience working as a DevOps Engineer or similar in Python or other programming language.
  • 5+ years of experience with building and maintaining observable systems
  • 3+ years of experience building/managing Kubernetes environments
  • Working knowledge of Git, Ansible or Terraform
  • Experience building and managing services in AWS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience promoting observability to enhance data collection, data analysis, and visualization.
  • Problem-solving attitude, automate first mindset, and collaborative team spirit.
  • Fundamental understanding of API flows and In-memory datastores such as Redis, Memcached.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as KVM, OpenStack, Docker, or Kubernetes Knowledge of message bus solutions such as Kestrel, ActiveMQ, or RabbitMQ
  • Familiarity with IPv4/6 network protocols, and common services such as DNS, SSH, and HTTP/S
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and AppDynamics
