Position Summary

The Enterprise Strategy & Architecture (ES&A) organization is a centralized architecture group within Information Technology (IT) department. The group supports PG&E's safety, reliability and affordability goals under the architecture mandate of Reuse, Rationalize, Optimize, and Standardize.

The Tech Programs Planning, Expert will report to the Manager of the Technology Portfolio Management team.

The Tech Programs Planning, Expert will support our functional area (FA) teams by partnering with them and other IT teams to support our IT demand management processes and driving activities that will improve the IT and ES&A relationship with those functional areas assigned. The Expert will be actively involved in supporting business case development that drives safety, compliance, and risk. This role will also partner with our internal Enterprise Architecture teams to provide feedback and guidance from a FA perspective for our overall technology strategy and roadmap development.

The ideal candidate will have a penchant for technology and its role in business processes as well as the ability to learn new and emerging technologies as they apply to PG&E. You will be able to bring a blend of curiosity and an 'art of the possible' mindset. You should also have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with or in the utility industry is highly desirable but not required.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $114,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $182,000.00

Job Responsibilities

  • Support our IT Demand Management processes that are led by ES&A by working with requesters for new technology projects to ensure alignment with our Strategic roadmaps and technology strategy overall as developed by our architecture team.
  • Works with and leverages relationships with Directors and Managers across functions / PG&E to build or maintain our ES&A and IT relationships with our internal functional areas.
  • Provide guidance for developing business cases in support of strategy or change initiatives.
  • Partner with key line of business and IT leaders to inform investment and prioritization decisions in the critical areas of safety and risk reduction.
  • Manage cross-functional projects or initiatives supporting or led by ES&A.
  • Understand key business processes enabling business value to PG&E and how technology can support and enhance them.
  • Support or lead initiatives to analyze complex business problems and issues using information from internal and external sources.
  • Proactively take on substantial ad hoc new tasks as identified/assigned.
  • Applies advanced knowledge to wide-ranging issues.
  • Drive process improvement and innovation mindset.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 6 years job-related experience

Desired:

  • Graduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and exceptional levels of accountability and self-drive
  • Experience working in or supporting technology initiatives and/or strategy, especially in the utility industry
  • Ability to develop deep relationships, and work effectively with key cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership team
  • Knowledge of and demonstrate involvement in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Outstanding strategic and structured thinking, analytical and creative problem-solving skills
