Overview

TRC seeks a Senior Project Manager, Market Development to grow the portfolio of advisory and educational services that support fleets and their partners in the clean commercial transportation industry and grow the market for clean technologies. The selected candidate will join our Technical Services team within our Clean Transportation Services' (CTS) business to develop new education and market intelligence products, manage an existing portfolio of products and client engagements, and build CTS business with fleets and their partners. Our ideal candidate will have business experience in the transportation industry and in business development and/or thought leadership. Previous consulting, research, or project management experience a plus.

Our market development portfolio builds on our ACT Fleet Forum, State of Sustainable Fleets, Technical Services, Sustainability, and Compliance team brands and complement TRC's ACT Expo and ACT News brands. Adoption of advanced clean transportation technologies requires new capabilities and understanding within organizations and, in some cases, entirely new ways of doing business. As a leader in clean transportation, TRC is uniquely equipped to identify advisory, learning, or thought leadership needs and design and manage services and content that accelerates market development. The Senior Project Manager, Market Development will help define, build, and launch new thought leadership products and manage cross-functional teams that deliver CTS services.

Responsibilities

The person will manage teams and projects through the entire lifecycle of a project scope or content creation and delivery. Responsibilities include identifying new needs for understanding or consulting support, designing a consulting scope or content calendar, and leading the team that delivers on the plan. The role will build a scope or content calendar with the Vice President of Market Development and key stakeholders, define the business model for different types of products, identify and secure sponsors or clients for many products and services, and manage teams to produce project deliverables, which may include direct services to individual clients or webinars, articles, and guides for industry.

The person will operate across all Clean Transportation business units and several others across TRC. The role will work closely with TRC's Technical team to gather and analyze data and also the Creative team for graphic design, marketing, website building, and webinar hosting support. It will also work closely with and manage teams of internal TRC subject matter experts in our Technical Services, Grants, Policy, Compliance, Sustainability, and other teams. The Senior Project Manager, Market Development will use these resources to produce high-quality curated content or deliver advisory services that moves the industry forward sustainably.

TRC's clients and relationships are the industry's leaders shaping the future of the clean commercial transportation industry; therefore, this person will possess exceptional relationship management skills with a drive for professionalism and excellence.

This position will include the following job responsibilities:

  • Manage the State of Sustainable Fleets cross-functional technical and creative team and the relationships with sponsors to deliver year-round analysis, insights, and content on the industry
  • Develop and lead execution of the annual fleet education calendar for the ACT Fleet Forum
  • Manage cross-functional consulting project teams to deliver CTS services that help our fleet clients grow their adoption of clean technologies and help our product clients grow their clean technology businesses
  • Provide oversight of multi-functional teams including researchers, modelers, graphic and web designers, communications strategists, technology/industry/sustainability/compliance/ funding experts, marketing campaign managers, and internal leadership
  • Gather essential feedback and participation on concepts and drafts from internal TRC experts, content sponsors, and end-users of content, including executives from TRC sponsors and clients
  • Facilitate, narrate, or write multiple pieces of educational and thought leadership content
  • Support identification of a market need or opportunity for existing services, then support development and finalization of scopes for new consulting or market education projects
  • Support development of proposals, prospectuses, pitch materials and manage the process of finalizing and launching new projects and consulting engagements
  • Identify need for, outline, plan, and lead team to create new business development and sales collateral, marketing materials, and marketing campaigns for each product
  • Develop product budgets and manage sales and production costs within budget
  • Track performance metrics on marketing, engagement, attendance, downloads, log-ins, etc. customized to each product
  • Support growth of the State of Sustainable Fleets and ACT Fleet Forum brands
  • Willingness to perform any task and comfort in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company
  • Oversee billing, invoicing, and resource management for each project
  • Assess workload and make recommendations for optimal staffing
  • Assess, develop, and implement project estimation and resource management tools
  • Lead, mentor and develop subordinate staff
  • This is a highly visible position externally with clients and partners
  • This position reports to Clean Transportation Services' Vice President, Market Development. The top candidate will be highly strategic with deep project management experience integrating a variety of services and expertise to deliver a cohesive product or scope.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of project management experience, preference for candidates with experience working in the private sector to build new products
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in a business context to concisely communicate to all levels of stakeholders required
  • Experience in the transportation sector and/or a master's degree in business, sustainable management, or a related field
  • Experience independently working with and managing high level customer-facing projects and initiatives (internal or external customers) and high-visibility public content
  • Demonstrated success with independently managing projects, staff, and own schedule to ensure high quality and timeliness of work
  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard office and project management software
  • Demonstrated success in leading and mentoring staff
  • Self-motivated, self-managed and paced with experience managing and being managed

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
