Job Title: Service Advisor

Industry: Heavy Duty Diesel Truck and Diesel Equipment Repair Shop

Location: Fargo North Dakota

Pay Range: $25.00-$30.00/hour + commission

We are seeking an experienced Service Advisor to join our team who has experience with or works in a heavy-duty diesel truck and diesel equipment repair shop. The Service Advisor acts as the primary point of contact between customers and the repair shop, ensuring exceptional customer service while coordinating repair and maintenance services for heavy duty diesel trucks and diesel equipment. This role requires strong communication skills, technical knowledge of diesel mechanics, and the ability to manage service workflows efficiently. This role includes participation in the after-hours on-call rotation to support our clients' needs.

Responsibilities:



  • Customer Interaction: Greet customers, listen to their concerns, and translate technical issues into clear repair recommendations.
  • Service Coordination: Create and manage repair orders, including estimating costs, scheduling repairs, and coordinating with technicians.
  • Technical Communication: Act as a liaison between customers and technicians, ensuring accurate communication of repair needs and progress.
  • Parts and Inventory: Collaborate with parts department to source necessary components and ensure timely availability.
  • After-Hours Support: Participate in the on-call rotation to handle emergency service requests outside regular business hours.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, repair orders, and billing information.
  • Quality Control: Ensure repairs meet shop standards and customer expectations before vehicle/equipment release.
  • Upselling Opportunities: Identify and recommend additional services or maintenance based on vehicle/equipment condition.


Qualifications:



  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years as a Service Advisor or similar role in a heavy-duty diesel truck or diesel equipment repair shop.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy-duty vehicle systems.
  • Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on building customer trust.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with repair shop management software (e.g., ShopKey, Procede, Mitchell1) and basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Availability: Willingness to participate in after-hours on-call rotation (weeknights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled).
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to prioritize tasks and handle high-pressure situations effectively.
  • Certifications: ASE Service Consultant certification or equivalent is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift to 25 lbs. in a shop environment.


Work Schedule:



  • Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday (8:30am-5:30pm)
  • Participation in after-hours on-call rotation required (approximately 1 week per month, subject to change).
