Airline Business Development Data Analyst IThe Airline Business Development team at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is responsible for growth in annual enplaned passengers and air service capacity at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). The Airline Business Development team has created a new career ladder position to develop the next leaders in air service development. If the candidate can successfully demonstrate their knowledge and performance in set metrics, the Airline Business Development career ladder position offers the opportunity for defined promotions over 72 months. This career ladder position will prepare the candidate to the be the next Airline Business Development Director at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. As the Airline Business Development Data Analyst I, you will assist in building, maintaining, and generating internal air service databases, data reports, and airline service presentations. This is a developmental level position and may lead to the next level of the Airline Business Development career ladder. After 24 months of successful performance and the ability to: *Independently collect, consolidate, and distribute air service data from various sources including Diio, Placer, DOT, and other sources in support of the ABD team's strategic focus *Maintain a variety of internal ABD databases ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of the data. *Prepare, maintain, and update accurate statistical analysis for TPS reports. *Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators of the Airport relative to its regional and national peers. *Demonstrate working knowledge of the global air service development industry and geopolitical challenges to air service growth and retention. *Demonstrate working knowledge of MWAA's airport system and strategic focus for the ABD team. A one grade and 5% increase is intended and the employee moves to the Airline Business Development Data Analyst II (SABD40) job description. After an additional 24 months of successful performance and the ability to: *Successfully manage small portfolio of airlines *Independently collect, consolidate, and generate multiple airline business development opportunities and the corroborating business case with a presentable deck. *Evaluate IAD ASIP effectiveness in comparison to competitive set. *Build leakage study for airline portfolio. *Demonstrate ability to prepare for and lead multiple successful airline business development meetings at a route development conference. *Demonstrate ability to develop professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance ABD strategic objectives. A one grade and 5% increase is intended and the full performance Airline Business Development Program Administrator (SABDPA4) is intended. Serves in the Office of Airline Business Development (ABD) in the Office of Chief Revenue Officer at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). Builds, develops, and maintains a variety of internal databases (using current data subscriptions) that can easily be accessed by the ABD team to better understand the airline service market and craft their airline service pitches to airlines. Performs related functions. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in providing strategic analytical support through the creation of forecasts, analyses, and other key information used by the ABD team to enhance airline service. Supports the development and maintenance of a variety of internal databases including those for passenger bookings by zip code, U.S., and foreign carrier market detail performance, etc. Ensures accuracy and effectiveness of data provided, and analytical support in interpreting data. Prepares weekly/monthly/quarterly reports for Airports Authority executives, ABD team, and other internal and external stakeholders; Reports include, but are not limited to, weekly airline schedule change reports, monthly capacity reports, monthly hub performance tracking reports, and quarterly passenger reports. Participates in representing the Airports Authority at local industry events and other functions. Coordinates Airport Authority events and other ABD team activations as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Three years of professional experience in commercial aviation in a relevant field including: air service development, airline operations, revenue management, aviation marketing, airport operations, business development and economic development. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Familiarity with using data sources, forecasting, and other analytical methods to perform market analyses and develop business cases. Ability to write clear and concise reports and presentations that effectively communicate business and economic information to management. Knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, and business economics to assist in forecasting and identifying business trends and opportunities. Ability to perform detailed analyses of data and information and make recommendations. Skill in using computer and office suite software, with a heavy emphasis on spreadsheet and presentation software (such as Excel and PowerPoint). Ability to speak and write effectively PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of the commercial airline industry, airline hub locations, growth strategies, and market segmentation. Experience developing airline business (international or domestic). EDUCATION A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Aviation Management, Marketing, or related field. CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED A state driver's license in good standing. A valid passport prior to hire, promotion, or placement in the job. NECESSARY SPECIAL FACTORS Must maintain a valid passport. Work is typically reviewed in progress and upon completion for quantity, quality, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other factors. May be required to travel to domestic and international locations on occasion and as required. A background security investigation will be required for all new hires.
