Summer Maintenance Helper

POSITION SUMMARY:The Division of Student Life; University Housing & Dining is seeking a Summer Maintenance Helper to assist Facilities, Mechanics, Environmental Systems Mechanics and Electronics Technicians with repairs and preventive maintenance.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

• Clean and service smoke detectors.
• Change air filters.
• Replace window air conditioners.
• Clean cooling coils and equipment.
• Repair window screens.
• Assist in minor plumbing duties
• Assist with fire panel checks.
• Minor carpentry duties
• Replace ceiling tile
• Ability to climb and work off ladder when needed
• Lube doors and windows.
• Replace electrical receptacle plates.
• Assist in testing, maintenance and cleaning of low voltage electronics, such as card access cameras and fire alarms.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION BASICS:

Hourly Rate/Range:$16.48

WORK SCHEDULE:

Hours:40 hours/week

Shift:Primarily 1^st shift; 7:30 am - 4 pm

Work Week:May work occasional weekends

Additional Hours:May work occasional overtime to cover absences and peak periods of operation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to move up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
• Must be motivated self-starter and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work outside, non-air conditioned, or construction area's.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• A valid driver's license and meet and maintain the University Fleet Safety Program driving standard is preferred.
