About the Position:

Silgan Dispensing Systems is seeking a results-driven and innovative Assembly Innovation Engineer to join our forward-thinking engineering team. This role plays a critical part in advancing our assembly operations through the development and implementation of automation technologies and process enhancements. The ideal candidate will lead initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance assembly solutions that support the production of industry-leading dispensing systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research, evaluate, quote, and implement new assembly technologies and methodologies for innovative product launches.
  • Design and develop automated assembly systems, including robotic and control system integration, to improve throughput and consistency.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives within existing assembly processes and workflows.
  • Create detailed assembly documentation such as work instructions, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Design and develop assembly fixtures, tooling, and equipment for proof of concept and production use.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create models for assembly components and systems.
  • Manage assembly innovation projects from concept through implementation, meeting timelines, budgets, and quality targets.
  • Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to achieve project goals.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for potential assembly solutions.
  • Analyze and resolve assembly-related issues including equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, and bottlenecks.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing teams on assembly processes and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of assembly processes, tooling, and project documentation.
  • Prepare and present technical reports to communicate progress, results, and findings.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in assembly process engineering or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing automated assembly systems.
  • Experience with robotic integration and automation technologies is highly desirable.
  • Experience utilizing CAD software (Solidworks, Inventor, Autocad, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of assembly processes, tooling, and equipment.
  • Experience in design of mechanical equipment with emphasis on mechanisms, pneumatics, conveyors, robotics, servos and control systems.
  • Good understanding of the use and function of control systems such as sensors, valves, PLC's and HMI's.
  • Good understanding of machining and fabrication practices and abilities.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.
