This role is with Highlander Health, which acquired Target RWE in January 2025 to expand its mission of transforming clinical research through real-world evidence.

About this role

We're looking for a skilled and versatile Medical Writer to lead the creation of scientific publications and research content that amplifies Highlander Health's mission. This role combines traditional manuscript writing with modern approaches to research communication, including digital-first and public-facing content. You'll collaborate closely with researchers, leadership, and external partners to translate complex scientific work into clear, compelling narratives.

What You'll Do

  • Draft, edit, and manage peer-reviewed manuscripts from concept through submission.
  • Create other research-focused content, including white papers, summaries, reports, and digital outputs.
  • Translate complex clinical and scientific data into accessible, engaging content for academic, industry, and public audiences.
  • Conduct literature reviews and assist in data synthesis to support content development.
  • Develop and execute a publication strategy that includes both traditional and web-based formats.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align on messaging and strategic communications.
  • Ensure all content complies with ethical, regulatory, and scientific standards.
  • Create supporting materials such as abstracts, slide decks, and summaries for funders and partners.

What You'll Bring

  • Advanced degree in biomedical sciences, public health, epidemiology, or a related field (PhD, MD, MPH, or MS preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in medical writing or scientific publishing, with a strong portfolio of peer-reviewed work.
  • Expertise in translating complex research findings into clear, impactful content.
  • Deep understanding of academic publishing processes and journal submission standards.
  • Familiarity with ethical guidelines and compliance frameworks (e.g., ICMJE, GPP).
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and engaging with researchers and partners.
  • Bonus: Experience with modern science communication formats like blogs, web content, or short-form updates.

Total Rewards

The salary estimated for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 + bonus + benefits. Compensation will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
