PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
This is a professional position beyond entry-level. Incumbents are expected to have acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the positions requirements at a full level of competence.
The current vacant assignment entails implementing collaborative and active learning strategies and programs for small businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and adult lifelong learners; offering workshops and one-on-one instruction in business research, creative software applications (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite), entrepreneurship, and business growth; fostering collaborative partnerships within the New Haven economic ecosystem; raising awareness about resources and services in the library through outreach efforts; managing a special collection of resources for entrepreneurs and nonprofits; and providing innovative information services to meet the needs of a diverse, urban adult population. The successful candidate will be current with the latest library, business, and technology trends; have previous experience working directly with small businesses and nonprofits; provide reference services, career resources, and become familiar with basic small scale manufacturing makerspace technologies with training; foster collaboration between makerspace and entrepreneurial opportunities; have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; maintain a professional commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; and value teamwork. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Masters degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited library school. Minimum of two years experience as a professional librarian and the following knowledge, abilities and skills, in addition to those for Librarian I:

SALARY, BARGAINING UNIT & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a General Fund, "Non Tested" position. This position is included in a collective bargaining agreement with Local 3144, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. Bargaining agreements available to review HERE. General Funded hires into this class are not covered by Social Security and will not pay Social Security taxes. They instead participate in the City Pension; the employee contribution rate is 10% of pay. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: (1) a pre-employment background check, (2) a pre-employment physical examination, including pre-employment drug screening accordance with the City's Drug Free Workplace Policy*, and (3) a 90-day probationary period.
