Primary Responsibilities:



  • Leading and mentoring Software Engineers, who are distributed across several independent squads
  • Defining and driving standards for Engineering Excellence
  • Project and Squad Leadership aimed at delivering Quality Software that supports Business Objectives
  • building reusable code and libraries to be leveraged across our team and technology stack
  • Developing software and processes that safely and securely handles our customer's health and financial data
  • Collaborating within and across teams to ensure that all of our efforts are aligned towards the same goals
  • Communicating thoughtfully with team members through design review, code review, and day-to-day collaboration

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of full-time software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of software engineering management experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Javascript/Typescript and Node.js
  • Experience building and consuming API endpoints (REST, AMQP, GraphQL)
  • Experience implementing testable business logic that is secure and easy to maintain



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience hiring and retaining Software Engineers
  • Experience designing, architecting and operating event-driven services
  • Experience designing and deploying to cloud-based environments such as AWS
  • Experience building and maintaining 3rd-party integrations
  • Experience leveraging message brokers and event streams-e.g., AWS SNS, SQS, Azure ServiceBus, or similar
  • Experience operating in high security environments-e.g., payments, healthcare
  • Proven willingness to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Proven solid moral compass and commitment to Starship's core values of inclusion, empowerment, and trust
  • Proven sense of empathy for others, both end users and your fellow e



The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
