What you'll be doing...
We are committed to providing the highest levels of compliance. This position is responsible for managing the compliance for non-income tax filings for the Wireline and Wireless businesses. The position will encompass preparation and/or review of regulatory filings, research and interpretation of statutes and laws, analysis of accounting entries and surcharge recovery, and other related tasks. Responsibilities:
Facilitate Regulatory Team taxability research and eligibility for Federal Universal Service Fund (FUSF) filings, State Universal Service Fund (SUSF) filings, and other non-income tax filings for all lines of business. Conduct research, interpret statutes and laws, and apply rules to the company's products and services; implement rules for surcharge billings for all non-income tax filings including Regulatory and Gross Receipts Taxes. Lead projects that include the implementation of cost savings strategies and process improvements to enhance the compliance process. Assist with preparation and review of GL Account reconciliations for non-income tax team. Support company initiatives, including new product launches, billing IT developments, and legal entity restructuring by communicating non-income tax team compliance impacts and requirements. Perform surcharge recovery analysis and propose updates to minimize expense. Assist with mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence and computing purchase price adjustments). Manage and adhere to all SOX controls. Propose best practices for the Team. Focus on identifying process improvements and streamlining existing procedures.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience. Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training. Ability to use analytical software such as, but not limited to, Alteryx and Qlik.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Regulatory experience. Project management experience. Experience with tax research, tax accounting, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and/or tax saving strategies. Familiarity with the data requirements needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns (ie: knowledge of billing systems, etc.). Understanding of tax law, compliance procedures, accrual methodology, and tax initiatives. Experience working with models for forecasting revenue and expense. Ability to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines. Ability to clearly communicate complex tax issues with tax legal, tax technology, tax compliance, tax research, and other business groups. Solid oral, written, and analytical skills. Ability to work equally well both independently or leading a team. Previous exposure to SAP (or other major General Ledger Suite Software).
