Summary:
As a Research & Development Engineer, you will play a key role in developing new and improved products while solving production challenges. You'll use SolidWorks extensively, but hands-on problem-solving, prototyping, and clear communication are just as important. You'll have access to a full machine/fabrication shop and 3D printing, as well as direct collaboration with trusted local and overseas suppliers from prototype to production.
Essential Functions:
* Develop new products and improve existing products, from concept through production
* Collaborate with cross functional product development team members
* Create engineering specifications, drawings, and test plans
* Work hands-on with machining, fabrication, and prototyping tools
* Support regulatory compliance, including FDA-compliant design documentation
Qualifications:
* Mechanical engineering degree required
* SolidWorks proficiency required (experience with surfacing/NURBS modeling is a plus)
* Experience creating engineering drawings
* Hands-on mechanical design experience outside of classwork required
* Some fabrication or machining experience necessary
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to thrive in a hands-on, blue-collar work environment
* Aesthetic or ergonomic design experience preferred
* Experience working with manufacturers or vendors (especially overseas) preferred
* Experience in the medical or rehab industry preferred
