Our Arlington office is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to our team. You will assist in planning, design, and construction of commercial, civic, institutional, governmental, transportation, and general infrastructure projects, buildings and infrastructure projects. You will be part of a team that is responsible for preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and final design plans, specifications, and estimates.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:



  • Contribute to the detailed design and construction supervision of building mechanical systems, particularly with respect to HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and building plumbing infrastructure.
  • Provide professional engineering services including technical specifications, design criteria and intent, constructability reviews and staging plans for new and renovation projects
  • Deliver high quality and cost-effective structural evaluation and design solutions for mechanical support projects using internal and external sources
  • Provide mechanical inspection and assessment reports including, condition, service life, life cycle costing, and renewal options analysis
  • Provide engineering services during construction and project close out with record drawings
  • Assist project managers in the development of scope, schedule & budget as it relates to the mechanical discipline
  • Apply a quality management system for mechanical design projects including quality control and assurance procedures, checks, and independent reviews at distinct phases of designs
  • Interacting with team members and assisting in the coordination of work among engineers and technicians
  • Undertaking design and contract administration roles across several mechanical sub-disciplines
  • Take personal responsibility to assure that client's work is completed on time, on budget, and within the quality standards of the firm. Agreeing timescales and specifications with clients and managers
  • Provide supporting data to Project Managers to facilitate analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives
  • Monitor progress on assigned projects



Candidate Specification:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited University
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering design and contract administration of design projects
  • Professional Engineer status in Virginia or the District of Columbia, or ability to obtain such qualification within 9 months
  • Possess strong knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing Drainage, and Fire Protection systems
  • Experience in Revit, CADD, and Heating/Cooling calculation software
  • Experience in delivering projects using BIM methods and technology driven solutions (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgments
  • Able to work on own initiative. Enthusiastic and ambitious
  • Strong knowledge of national, state, and local codes and other legislative requirements
  • LEED certification (preferred)
  • Experience within the Buildings and Civil Aviation Sector (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direct oversight and to deliver projects on-time and budget to the satisfaction of clients
  • Positive 'can-do' attitude with colleagues and clients
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The expected salary for this position is $106,000 - $130,000
