About the role The Director, Corporate HR leads HR business partnering and collaborates with functional owners in HR to oversee all aspects of HR service delivery to Balfour Beatty's business units. The role advises senior business unit leaders on comprehensive talent strategies to set and evaluate plans for organizational effectiveness, monitor key HR health indicators driving retention and risk management, and implement digital tools to improve performance and the end-to-end employee experience. The role directly supports corporate functions as HR business partner and manages a team of HRBP's. What you'll be doing
- Partner with SVP of HR and senior business leaders to design and execute forward-thinking talent strategies that support business objectives, manage risk and enhance employee experiences
- Oversee delivery of HR services to business units, including workforce planning support and compensation and merit cycles
- Monitor organizational health indicators and collaborate across HR teams to proactively address areas of risk
- Utilize HR metrics and analytics to support decision-making, measure HR program effectiveness, and foster a continuous improvement in culture
- Oversee complex investigations and employee relations activities, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures
- Collaborate across HR, shared services, and technology teams to deliver seamless HR service
- Implement systems for tracking and reporting HR metrics and analytics
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and reporting requirements.
- Advise leaders on short and long-term talent priorities including performance management cycles, leadership and coaching, and succession planning
- Deliver change management initiatives, partnering with leaders and managers and communicating across teams to ensure smooth transitions, build employee trust, manage change-related risks, and monitor impact of strategic initiatives
- Conduct investigations into general employee matters for corporate employee population
- Support Compliance team as needed on Speak up Matters and ensure that matters of noncompliance or ethics concerns are elevated to SVP of HR and Compliance
- Support job evaluations to ensure internal pay equity across roles.
- Support employee counseling, review and approve all written warnings, participate in all termination meetings and, when required, handle exit interviews.
- Help to ensure employee engagement plans are shared with all employees and support management in development plans and ensure implementation of plans

- Review performance evaluations and establish leadership development plans as needed
- Approve PAFs and ensure manager completion of required documentation
- Monitor exit interview and resignation letters to evaluate trends
- Collaborate across HR and serve as direct point of contact to manage inquiries on employee mobility, leaves of absence, payroll considerations and other matters
- Support talent acquisition and organizational leaders with recruiting efforts
- Provide day to day leadership and strategic direction for the HRBP team through clear goal setting, coaching, and supporting capability development
- Ensure HRBP processes and decisions are well-documented and easily accessible
- Guide and monitor HRBP team on complex conflict resolution and disciplinary actions
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture
- Facilitate communication and collaboration across business units during periods of change
- Lead the HR organization to proactive HR service delivery model.
Typical Physical Demands: Regularly uses hands to manipulate phones, computer keyboard and similar tools. Ability to view computer screens, mobile devices, and other electronic equipment, for extended periods of time. Sit and stand to perform administrative work. Regularly lift and move office supplies up to 20 lbs. Work is performed in an office environment. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time including into the Malvern Corporate Office on a hybrid basis. Who we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) or MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in human resources in a multi-business unit environment, preferably as HR Business Partner or similar senior HR role. 1+ years in a supervisory role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills and proven ability to drive change through influence
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills across all levels of an organization
- Customer-centric mindset to delivering HR services with proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively
- Experience in high-change environments with a focus on organizational effectiveness, and employee relations
- Demonstrated ability to use technology to drive process improvements and efficiencies
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and risk management principles
- Proficient in MS Office and HRIS systems
- Possession of a valid state issues driver's license and safe driving record are required
