CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: Subject matter expert with responsibility for oversight and management of the following global environmental program(s): Global Compliance Assurance for Environmental Affairs. The position is accountable to provide guidance and other assistance to Corporate staff, Divisional staff and customers in the areas of air, water, soil protection; solid and hazardous waste management; and sustainability to help ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulation and to protect human health, the environment, and communities around Sherwin-Williams sites. This position is responsible for the management of projects of Corporate and Divisional concern in the areas of air, water, solid & hazardous waste and sustainability. Responsibilities include monitoring proposed and final laws and regulations that have an impact on the program(s). When appropriate, participate in industry groups to positively influence rule development. Interpret regulations and their impact on SW operations and develop communications and training to help operating divisions comply with the new rules. Manage relationship with 3rd party contractors that support the program(s). If applicable, obtain competitive proposals, maintain services agreements and oversee contractor(s) activities as required. (1) Environmental Protection & Compliance:
- Position is a resource on existing environmental laws and regulations, and responsible to develop assessments on the impact of pending or newly enacted environmental legislation and regulations on the Corporation and provide guidance to affected operations on how to comply.
- Support global environmental compliance and to specifically assigned manufacturing sites, blending facilities, stores, distribution facilities, and research laboratories.
- Assist sites in preparating environmental impact assessments (EIA), permit applications for various environmental requirements (e.g., air and wastewater).
- Collect and maintain various environmental database(s) information to assist with environmental compliance at various facilites.
- Follow-up on environmental government inspections and audit findings to insure issues are corrected or addresses in a timely manner.
- Provide appropriate guidance in response to environmental emergencies and outside customer inquiries.
(2) Project Management:
- Maintain/manage Department electronic databases, programs, and hard copies of project files as required.
- Coordinate short-term projects (e.g., emergency response, EHS management system implementations, etc.) under close management supervision.
- Coordinate internal environmental projects and assist peers with their external contractor projects, as required.
(3) Environmental Programs:
- Subject matter expert in air emission management, air permitting, emission control and compliance.
- Ensure sites implement and maintain key Corporate environmental programs such as air emissions, waste tracking, hazardous waste facility auditing and sustainability.
- Develop, review, revise, and maintain S-W environmental standards to deliver world class environmental performance and compliance.
(4) Environmental Guidance & Training:
- Perform environmental audits at S-W manufacturing sites, distribution facilities, blending facilities, store locations, and off-site waste management facilities utilized by the Company - as needed.
- Assist in developing or improving training on various environmental topics (e.g., hazardous waste, new regulations, etc.) and conduct such training at Company locations.
- Review pending and existing laws and regulations concerned with air quality, water quality, and waste management.

FORMAL EDUCATION: Required:
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from an accredited four-year college or university in science, engineering, or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Master of Science in Engineering, Math or EHS related degree
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required:
- 10+ years general environmental experience
- 7+ years in the paint, chemical, pharmaceutical, general manufacturing, or equivalent industry
Preferred:
- Certified Hazardous Material Manager
- Experience in paint and coatings or chemicals industry
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Required:
